A Legacy of Collagen Science

Brand History

For more than 80 years, Jellice has explored the science of collagen and protein technology. What began as expertise in refining gelatin gradually evolved into advanced research into collagen peptides and the discovery of Collagen Tripeptide (CTP). Today, this research continues through Jellice skincare, where Collagen Tripeptide technology helps support hydration, elasticity, and skin renewal.

Jellice was founded in Japan

Jellice Co., Ltd. is established with a focus on gelatin production and protein science. Early work refining collagen-based materials laid the foundation for decades of research into collagen structure and function.

1993

Beginning of Collagen Tripeptide research

On September 10, 1993, Dr. Yasuo Sakai filed a patent related to Collagen Tripeptide (CTP), marking a decisive step in Jellice’s pursuit of more precise collagen technology.

Researchers had long understood collagen’s importance to skin structure, but its complex molecular size limited how effectively it could be utilized. Through focused experimentation, Jellice scientists began isolating smaller collagen units, ultimately identifying Collagen Tripeptide, composed of just three amino acids.

This molecular refinement opened new scientific questions and possibilities. Continued research throughout the late 1990s helped clarify how collagen tripeptides could support collagen metabolism and skin function, establishing a foundation for future applications in beauty, wellness, and topical skincare innovation.

2000s

Global expansion and advancing collagen research

Jellice expanded its collagen research partnerships and production capabilities internationally, establishing a presence across Europe, Taiwan, India, and China. During this period, scientific studies continued to explore the biological activity of collagen tripeptides and their ability to support collagen synthesis, hydration, and skin elasticity — helping shape their future role in skincare innovation.

2010s

Advancing collagen science through research

Clinical and laboratory studies further examined the effects of collagen tripeptides on skin health and aging, reinforcing their potential role in supporting skin hydration, elasticity, and overall skin structure.

2020s

Collagen science enters skincare

Building on decades of collagen research, Jellice began applying Collagen Tripeptide technology to topical skincare formulations designed to support hydration, firmness, and skin renewal.

2024–2025

Jellice skincare launches in the United States

Jellice introduces its skincare line to the U.S. market, bringing Japanese collagen science and patented Collagen Tripeptide technology to consumers seeking research-driven skincare.
